Austin Amstutz is head trainer and manager at StudioX Fitness. Austin holds a degree in Physical Activity and Exercise, as well as, Community Health. He is eager to share his enthusiasm for creative and challenging exercise while helping his clients reach and beat their goals through a challenging mix of traditional weight training, functional exercises, and dynamic conditioning.
Starting at a young age, Hallie developed a strong connection between nutrition, exercise, and overall health. She began dancing a variety of styles at age 4 and eventually expanded her love for movement through yoga, HIIT, and strength training. Hallie received her BA in Exercise Science from Willamette University in 2012 and is a Certified Personal Trainer through the American College of Sports Medicine and Sculpt Yoga/Vinyasa Yoga instructor through CorePower Yoga. Hallie’s goal as an instructor is for each client to develop greater body awareness, find a love for working hard, and get in a good sweat every time. For Hallie, a good workout is something that takes you out of your mind, into your body, and continues to have a positive effect on the rest of your life.
As an avid snowboarder and lacrosse player of twenty years it's Corbin's belief that a strong and balanced body are the foundation for a healthy and strong mind. Whether you’re a performance athlete or someone taking their first steps to begin their fitness journey he is here to motivate and personalize your path to sustainable changes in both mind and body! Corbin holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Oregon, is a graduate from the National Personal Training Institute, and a certified personal trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine.
Yuqing is the sixth generation Chinese Medicine practitioner in her family. Both her parents were practitioners and instructors at the Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Having grown up surrounded by herbs and acupuncture, following in her parents’ footsteps became a natural choice. Her goal is to bridge the gap between the ancient healing arts and modern healthcare.
Yuqing believes in achieving optimum health through a holistic and harmonizing approach. One of the central tenets of Chinese Medicine is to consider the patient as a whole and use only what is necessary to achieve the ultimate goal of balance. Yuqing hopes to facilitate this process through acupuncture, nutrition and lifestyle counseling, and other adjunctive therapies such as cupping and gua sha.
Yuqing received her Master of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine degree from the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine and is a Licensed Acupuncturist in the state of Oregon. She also graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in biochemistry from the University of Oregon. She enjoys spending time in the great outdoors hiking, camping, and practicing Tai Ji. On rainy days, she enjoys books, movies, video games, and hanging out with friends. Yuqing is also fluent in both English and Mandarin and enjoys studying classical Chinese Medicine texts in both languages.

Sarah is a Colorado-based yoga instructor who moved to Portland in 2014 to pursue naturopathic medicine, classical Chinese medicine, and acupuncture. Sarah’s classes emphasize the three A’s “attitude, alignment, and action.” With these principles as a foundation, students are encouraged to deepen their mind-body connection on and off the mat. Sarah offers all-level classes that both challenge and honor a student’s individual practice. As a dedicated yogi and future physician, Sarah provides an intelligent and creative space for students to thrive.
Forrest is a massage therapist specializing in Shiatsu, a Japanese style that is based in Traditional Chinese Medicine. His main goal is to assist in the pursuit and maintenance of health, in a way that promotes the body’s self healing abilities so that individuals can find a happier way of being.
Outdoor activity and recreation have always been a driving force in Forrest’s life. It began with trail running, hiking and rock climbing, really anything to explore the beautiful Pacific Northwest. Whether training for a climb out in the mountains, or preparing for a competition, he understands how debilitating an injury can feel. Wherever you are in the process, Forrest will work with you to get back into the game or push through to the next level.
In a Shiatsu session with Forrest you will be fully clothed in comfortable stretchy clothing, as he works through the fabric and takes your limbs through a wonderful series of stretches that works with (or increase) your range of motion. The work is comprised of many different techniques that involves rocking, deep compression, stretching, point work and much more. He loves to learn, actively participates as a Teaching Assistant at the Oregon School of Massage and is fascinated with new literature that comes out about massage therapy. Maddy believes that exercise can and should be a positive, self-fulfilling experience, and a rewarding part of a happy, healthy lifestyle.Maddy earned her ACSM Personal Training certification after graduating from Reed College with a degree in psychology. Maddy is particularly interested in intersection of psychology and fitness, and incorporates this into her training style.
Maddy is a black belt in Shudokan karate, and through her training learned a great deal about body awareness and self-discipline. For over five years, Maddy has loved pushing her limits through high intensity interval training, circuit training, cardiovascular conditioning, and running (with a particular joy found in muddy runs!). She began playing ultimate Frisbee and performing sport-specific weight lifting two years ago.

Lyndsay discovered yoga in 2006 and became a daily practitioner after relocating from the east coast to Portland in 2009. Following several years of adopting the instructors and classes that make up Portland’ yoga culture, she took the plunge and completed her 200-hour training in the spring of 2015.
Having lived everywhere from New York City to the Florida Keys, Lyndsay fell in love with the Northwest’s civic emphasis on community, creativity, and the great outdoors. A lifelong advocate of heat and sweat, she enjoys running, hiking, riding her bike, swimming in rivers, and other activity involving excellent friends and great tacos. Her involvement with yoga empowers those interests, providing the mat as a single location to quiet the mind and focus her strength. That value as a helm, she hopes to bring a sense of fun and lightness when connecting with students, providing a welcome space to support and invite the same restorative benefits she applies in her own practice.
Jay Salzman, PT, CSCS comes to Studio X after accumulating a wide variety and depth of experience. Most notably, he taught and practiced physical therapy at Pacific University’s doctoral program in physical therapy for over 16 years. His overall philosophy is one that blends careful movement analysis, acute problem solving skills, hands-on competency, and individualized instruction/exercise prescription. This means that he will partner with you in order to best meet your personal goals, minimizing the need for costly, long term professional intervention.
Jay became an APTA Board Certified Clinical Specialist in orthopedics in 2004 and is an APTA credentialed clinical instructor. In 2016, he obtained his Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist credential. He is a member of the American Physical Therapy, Oregon Physical Therapy, and National Strength and Conditioning Associations, along with the Sports Section of the APTA.
Jay has also been involved with the professional windsurf racing industry for over 12 years, both as a sponsored team rider and as a fitness and nutrition coach to the US Junior National Windsurfing Team. When not on the water sailing, surfing, wakeboarding, or swimming, he enjoys running, hiking and high intensity interval training (you will likely see him in group classes!).
This active lifestyle has led to his own fair share of injury and subsequent therapy, which has helped greatly to inform his practice. Furthermore, he fully models the professional attribute of being a life long learner, amassing 50-80 hours per year in continuing education hours.
Kenzie is a 200-hour Registered Yoga Teacher with an emphasis in power vinyasa. She holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in music performance, and received her yoga certification from CorePower Yoga in 2016. After a background in dance and soccer, Kenzie initially took up yoga to complement her running regime, but quickly fell in love with power vinyasa style yoga and has since shifted into making it her primary workout. She focuses on alignment and strength in her teaching, and believes that knowledge is power on and off the mat.
Small, fast, and mighty. Molly is 1) a lover for fitness, and 2) a certified personal trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine. Having a significant background in classical ballet, she has found that building a strong foundation is important for all walks of life. Molly is excited to share her passion for movement and motivated in helping others perform at their highest potential; working together in achieving each individual fitness goal. She is one who enjoys a challenge, always pushing the limits and proving you are capable of more than you think.
Christopher is a man obsessed with health and fitness. With over five years of personal training under his belt, Christopher knows how to work with and inspire clients to deliver results. A Certified Personal Trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine his specialties include: strength and conditioning, athletic performance, sculpting, building and weight-loss.
Blair Borax is a 200-hr Registered Yoga Teacher, certified at Yoga Bhoga, here in Portland. She sees yoga, not just as a practice of breathing, moving, and meditating on the mat, but also as a practice of being, seeing, and acting, off of the mat. In her vinyasa style classes, Blair helps students set up strong foundations of practice through breath, form, mindfulness, and dynamic movement, whilst interweaving practical elements of yoga philosophy that can be incorporated into daily life. When she is not practicing or teaching yoga, Blair has her hands in the soil, growing healthy food and teaching others how to do the same. Blair is excited to create spaces for people to explore the beautiful, powerful practice of yoga and help them realize their own highest potential.
Jen Bergman is a certified personal trainer though the National Academy of Sports Medicine. She is a professional athlete and is currently training for the 2016 Olympic Trials in the marathon and track 10k. Her love of distance running is what led her to pursue a career in the fitness industry. Her training includes exercises to strengthen and condition the musculoskeletal system to improve muscle tone and endurance. Jen will push your body further than you thought possible because she knows the satisfying results that will come after. This is why she is enthusiastic about helping others mold a healthy and physically active lifestyle. Whatever fitness goals you are trying to achieve Jen will PUSH and MOTIVATE you to achieve them!
Liz is a NASM certified Personal Trainer and ElevatED Pole Dance & Flexibility Instructor. An athlete all her life, it wasn’t until she discovered pole dance in 2011 that she became passionate about movement. She began training and cross training pole seriously, and by 2013 was competing, teaching and discovering it is what makes her happiest.
After 12 years of working at MTV in NYC, Liz moved to Portland to breath deeper and pursue fitness as a lifestyle and career. She believes agility should come with strength, and focuses her training on developing lean muscle while challenging flexibility, balance and coordination. When she’s not teaching, you’ll find her moving. She strives to continuously grow in her own practice to ensure she can create workouts that are fun, unique and challenging.

Ashley is the head trainer and one of the studio managers. She is a USAW Weightlifting and Sports Performance Coach, as well as a nationally certified ACE Personal Trainer.
The main focus of Ashley's training is on the individual needs of each client. Everyone is different & she sees the inherent nature of how personalized coaching can positively impact a person's life. Whether you are lifting weights in one of her strength training classes or sprinting across the room in a fat-burning one-on-one session, there is certainly no lack of personal attention and motivation.
Paulie is one of the most outgoing and friendly people you will ever meet. He has an undying love for the outdoors and a passion for fitness. When he’s not hiking up the side of a mountain or standing on a slackline he loves to teach! He believes fitness is a way of life and that no matter who you are he can help you to take your body to where you want it to go! He is an A.C.E certified personal trainer with two years of experience under his belt. He specializes in strength and conditioning as well as functional movement training. Paulie will push you to your limits and make you love every minute of it!
David is a Massage Therapist, here to help you recover, maintain, and optimize your body to achieve your fitness goals. David lives an active lifestyle, has been an avid skier, hiker, traceur (parkour), and yogi. He knows how much fun and excitement can come from functioning at peak physical condition, is familiar with the devastation an injury can bring, and has walked the long road to recovery on several occasions. Whether you want to reach that extra inch of vertical leap in your potential, or just get back on your feet again, David is ready and willing to assist you.
Mason has been a practicing massage therapist since 2012, specializing in swedish, deep tissue, and trigger point massage. She has developed a specific skill set to address musculoskeletal pain relief and recovery and is passionate about helping athletes of any skill level. Her main goal in treatment is to provide therapeutic care that fits the unique needs of each individual.
Mason’s massage style is centered around an extensive knowledge of anatomy and muscular/fascial connection. She views the body as an intricate webbing and prefers to work on whole body musculature in addition to specific areas of injury. Mason’s massage is able to get down to business while still remaining decedent and relaxing. Her training includes auxiliary modalities such as cupping, gua sha, and KT Taping allowing for comprehensive care that is able to get clients up and running.
A recent graduate of OCOM’s Masters program, Mason will soon be expanding her practice as a licensed acupuncturist.
Charissa is to yoga what the bunny is to Energizer. It goes. It goes. And yogas. And yogas. Raised in Minnesota Charissa has always hopped around, landing in Thailand, where she discovered and subsequently began instructing scuba diving, Charissa seeks adventure, but no matter where she is the common theme remains: staying active and teaching others. She first discovered yoga from a fellow diver in 2009 and when her move brought her to Portland in August of 2013 she shortly completed her first 200 hour training. She is extremely excited to share her love of yoga and fitness with the lovely people of Portland. She loves a good hat, the smile that champagne brings to her face and trying new things. But she really just wants everyone to be healthy and happy!

William Marshall is originally from the United Kingdom and has been in Portland, OR, since January 2015. Will started boxing at the age of 8 at the Devonport Amateur Boxing Club in Plymouth, England. He had his first fight at the age of 10 making him the youngest boxer to ever compete in an amateur fight in England. Over 10 years with Devonport, Will accumulated approximately 60 amateur fights winning numerous regional championships. At 18, Will won the national championship title for boxing and was selected to represent the England national team in an international boxing tournament in Ireland.
After winning the national title and receiving a number of offers to turn professional with various US boxing promoters, Will decided to sign with a well known boxing promoter in Portland, OR. During his twenties he traveled back and forth between Portland and England to train and compete professionally. Will had his more recent professional fight at the Emerald Queen Casino in June 2016 where he won by first round knock out.
In the last couple of years Will has turned his focus from competition to using his boxing knowledge to teach others. Will’s boxing class consists of learning the fundamentals of boxing footwork as well as defensive movements and punching techniques and combinations. Will loves to end every session with a mixed arm/core/legs circuit and his killer ab session for a complete body workout!
